Synopsis: With an ice storm on his heels, Detective Clayton Douglas of the Allentown Police Dept. travels across the snow-covered road to what seems like the middle of nowhere. Out in this vast emptiness sits the massive state hospital. A modern marvel of its day. Clayton directs his car towards it. Inside, the hospital continues to impress. Clayton meets the receptionist and explains he was on a call with Dr. Heysinger when the line went dead. Being the inquisitive detective that he is, Clayton stops by to check things out. He's quickly met by Dr. Heysinger, who begins to tell him of the mysterious man in the basement who oddly enough asked for the detective by name. Daniel Glassman, a Civil War Vet not only asked for Clayton by name, he also wants to confess to something horrible. This situation is just too strange for Clayton to turn away and agrees to meet Daniel. In the basement, locked in a room is Daniel - a bloated, half-dead old man covered in scars. Eyes sunk but piercing. Already in the room is Sister Rose, who seems to be entranced by the sheer sight of Daniel, is present for medical aid and spiritual guidance. Daniel has a difficult time speaking so he wrote his confession down. As Dr. Heysinger reads the confession, we are transported back to 1863 and we see first hand what unbelievable events took place. Not only will it shock everyone involved but it will have them questioning their very fabric of faith and fighting for their lives.

Synopsis: Logline

Beyond the red lines explores what is outside, beyond the borders, geographical and

SYNOPSIS

Sometimes there is a thin line, a red-white line that is making delimitations, seclude and divide. The symbol of borders is referring not only to geographical borders, but also to a physical, mental, perceptional, approaching the isolation from the green world, from nature, forests, humans.

In new post/pandemic conditions - situation of disconnection and un/presence in-between people, as well as with nature become critical nowadays. How much are we prepared to isolation and how to maintain the connection or to reconnect with the world, and not to lose ourselves. Technical insertion itself underline that despite of impossibility of going out, we still can build our ways to go outside, to go beyond the lines, further.

Synopsis: In a post-apocalyptic world, ravaged by global warming, a father and a daughter face their journey to the south. After the Apocalypse, the world in which they try to survive is dominated by heat and drought: water is now scarce, it hasn't rained for a decade, and cities are half-destroyed due to high temperatures and excessive humidity. The few people left on the planet, on their ruthless hunt for survival, are northbound in search of a more favourable climate. Luigi is a father who does not give up and takes the opposite direction to fulfil Sofia's dream: seeing the sea for the first time. Relying on his own strength and with the little food he has left, he is determined to make his daughter's wish come true. Sofia is a sweet, devoted little girl and she's never seen the sea, nor the rain, nor school nor the whole world that existed before the Apocalypse. A red shell around her neck, a sort of lucky charm, accompanies her on her journey. After running out of supplies, Luigi and Sofia arrive in an abandoned city full of rubble and debris. While searching for food, they find some jellies, created in the recent past to survive the lack of food. In that same village, however, some looters rob them and leave them with nothing. In a world now in ruins, survival seems more and more difficult. At dusk, without any food, they stop to rest in an abandoned building. Before falling sound asleep, Sofia, exhausted, plays with her father for the last time. In the morning, Luigi, with his daughters close behind, comes out of the building, sensing the closeness of the sea. The journey is now coming to an end. Behind a headland, there it is, finally, the sea. Luigi arrives at the water's edge, followed by his daughter. But it’s all just an illusion. He is alone, he is not holding Sofia's hand, only her red shell.

"Breadcrumbs"

Breadcrumbs.jpg

(Lilia Le Dieu & Konstantin Pivovar)

Synopsis: C., a needy man, knocks on the doors of a next door building and asks its residents for some bread for his starving children.

P. opens the door and they engage in a long conversation about selfishness and good deeds. C. tries to explain his point that people help others to feel good about themselves, not necessarily because of pure altruistic motives. P. gives C. all of his bread to prove he’s a good person, and C. leaves.

The next day when he enters the elevator with the neighbor L. he sees this note:

“Dear residents, recently I came to your building, because my family was starving. I went through every floor, knocking on every door. And none of you, not even one soul in this building gave me anything.
I wanted to let you know”.

Feeling betrayed and embarrassed of what the neighbors will think of him, P. tears off the note and pays a visit to C. After a heated conversation, C. starts typing more notes. He explains that it doesn't matter if anyone knows about the act of kindness as long as it was really done. His goal was to "save P. from his ego". Shocked and furious, P. smashes a typewriter on C’s head in front of his little children, leaving him breathless on the floor.

He returns to his building and plans to knock on every door to let everyone know that he has actually shared bread with C.

Black Snow

Black Snow.jpg

(Stephen Linstead)

Synopsis: On December 12, 1866, 361 men and boys were killed in an explosion at the Oaks Colliery in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, UK. Despite being the world's worst industrial loss of life in the 19th century, it remained relatively unremembered until 2015, when a group of ex-miners, trade unionists, and local historians attempted to raise money to erect a memorial for its 150th anniversary. But first, they had to find out what happened, and to whom, and whether anybody cared. The film tells three interlocking stories: the story of a historical community devastated by the disaster, struggling to survive; the story of a contemporary community, decimated by the loss of industry, rediscovering itself in the struggle to remember; and the story of a sculptor, struggling to make one last masterpiece.

However, even on this remote high-altitude plateau, life today becomes increasingly complicated. The green fields of the nomads are gradually disintegrating, and the nomadic lifestyle is fading. There is a small workshop set up in an inconspicuous village on Tibetan plateau that tries to work with the nomads. As a social enterprise, to regain their traditions of yak wool textile craftsmanship, to help the villagers who used to be nomads before lost all their yaks can earn their livings, and make them proud of themselves again. Through this film, we could stand closely by the side and capture the moments objectively. How Tibetan people cherish their traditions and nomadic lifestyle, however losing them gradually at the same time, while facing and embracing rapid modernization.

White Angels of Camargue - Europe’s Last Cowboys

White Angels of Camargue - Europes Last

(Dennis Schmelz)

Synopsis: If you’ve ever wanted to visit the Wild West you can find it in France, although it should better be called the Wild South. Cowboys, wild white horses and pink flamingos. Hard to imagine any place on earth where you'll find all of them together but the vast Camargue delta in the South of France is home to all of these colorful creatures.

Since the 1500’s the Cowboys of the Provence, Les Gardians de Camargue – how they call themselves, have been tending to herds of horses in the unfenced coastal region of the Camargue.

It takes a very rustic horse to survive in this territory. The Camargue horse, also known as the "horse of the sea", is very harsh and one of the oldest horse breeds in the world. For more than 500 years the Guardians have been caring for them. They have gained a deep, old knowledge about these wonderful beings who look more like the mounts of fairies, than just animals. They share a language with the horses, a language full of gestures. It’s a communication based upon respect. Philippe, one of the Guardians told me: "You could argue that humans are more intelligent but humans lie to each other. You can not lie to a horse, they are too sensitive for that."

The Guardians have been playing a vital role in Camargue culture for generations but their way of life is becoming harder and harder to sustain. There are just a few professional Guardians left. It’s a very tough profession. It’s hard work and physical. Seven days a week, every day of the year. I hope that the tradition will continue, it’s a job for those who truly love it.

I hope you like my latest work, I'm very curious to hear your feedback - let me know your thoughts in the comments. Producing this video was a long dream of mine and I'm super happy to finally share it with you. Thanks to everybody who helped me on this amazing project.

Filmed at the end of June / beginning of July 2019 (the hottest week in France since weather record with up to 45 degrees Celsius).

This is much to the delight of the frightened Sean Flynn, who acts as the King’s footstool and general lackey.

Sandy, with the help of Dermot O’ Neill, the King’s right hand man is introduced to the mythical being, the Banshee who agrees to help them. The Banshee offers them the use of “Star of the Night” a magical flying horse and they set out into the real world to bring help from Kevin’s bedroom in the form of children’s battery operated toys. It is a perilous journey back into their world as they have to contend with everything from adults to dogs and frogs. Their Grandfather, the only household believer and a teller of Leprechaun stories, is brought into the picture to help execute their plan. Utilizing the toys – two Harrier jets, a truck, two tanks, soldiers, two nurses, a Jeep and a Police car – they wage war on the rats to win the battle. Along the way they face several challenges, and with the help of King Shamus and his men they solve the riddle of the so-called witch and also get the credit for the capture of the escaped convict. The Single Man is an episodic web-series in the time of COVID; a spoof of modern dating shows in which a group of women compete in challenges from the questionable comfort of their homes/quarantine locales.  Challenge-winners may gain immunity, more time with the Single Man, and other concrete advantages.  The ultimate prize, however, is the invitation to rejoin the Zoom link at the end of every episode.  Each episode, one woman will…continue to stay at home, but no longer be welcome in the virtual meeting room.  Even COVID-19 cannot stop love.

Hosted by the sphinx-like Portia Maybee, who needs no introduction (and prefers not to give one either), and featuring the handsome and eligible Shane Labeau as the titular character.   Make no mistake though, the ladies are certainly the stars.  Especially if they get their way.

Synopsis: Nehebukau is a lesser known Egyptian god but a powerful deity nonetheless; this song is a prayer and a magick that evokes the deity Himself and the 9 aspects of the soul that the Egyptians articulated.

Industrial ambient techno composed by GB Marian forms the luscious backbone of this track, whilst the video features lyricist and director Setken indulging his fascination with Athletic Model Guild (AMG) style films and Kemetic iconography as 10 paintings of his featuring Nehebukau are shown throughout.

Location scenery featured in this film clip includes a heritage listed Masonic Hall in Sandringham, Melbourne, and the picturesque Sorrento Back Beach on the Victorian Coast.

In a matter of a day, you and I lost us, and we all lost a revolution. I am not angry, I am disappointed. But how does one live disappointment? What is the physical action associated with disappointment? Anger is much easier. Sadness is much easier. Hatred is the easiest. But I don't hate you. You are too innocent to hate. We were too innocent to win. It is life.

Auricular Confession

Auricular Confession.jpg

(Martin Del Carpio)

Synopsis: By Christian Cordon

Isolation and vulnerability shaken through haunting montages; overlaying shots implicating the duality of a man, a music conductor, a dancer, and a Plague Doctor. Experimental director Martin Del Carpio explores the aforementioned scenes and soaks them with religious imagery in his newest short film.

Auricular Confession is essentially a one person show and actor, Esteban Licht, is the perfect solo performer. He effortlessly transitions between the eerie shots of him as the Plague Doctor to him in a contemporary dance piece. This is complemented by Del Carpio’s adept directorial hand and musical talents. The music and sound design is spine-tingling and create an ambiance that deepens the sense of uneasiness and dread, similar to a horror film. Although the film takes place entirely in one or two rooms, the way Del Carpio distorts, darkens and uses sound design is purposeful, complementing the fantastic central performance.

The central theme here is religion and spirituality... with a hint of Middle Age history. Licht dons a Plague Doctor mask for a good portion of the film and while the symbolism around the mask is typically centered around death in the Black Plague, it is contrasted with strong Christian imagery. This correlates with several visually stunning overlaying, double exposure shots of Licht which can be interpreted as the duality between death and life (through Jesus) given this context.

Auricular Confession engages its audience by allowing us some insight into the vulnerable mind of Del Carpio. Off the bat you can tell that this is a personal project for him as the film opens with a dedication to his father. It’s uncertain whether or not we are seeing a snapshot of a personal confession from Del Carpio but what is certain is that whatever inspired this project left us with a work of art that demands multiple watches.

No straightforward view, it is a side glance unexplainable, irritating, psychedelic worlds in which dreams mingle. In between, Kaori awakens and is visibly confused. A dove always appears in her dreams. It reveals open what Kaori connects with the pigeon. It could indicate a childhood experience with a desire to fly. In the end, she travels to space as a pilot of a cogeneration plant. A dream from which she awakens happily. Music is elemental in the movie. Kaori plays a theremin in one of her dreams. In the first dream she stands in a church in front of a digital video altarpiece. However, what they find interrupts the laughs and their complicity, exposing secrets and unexpected backstories which were concealed by a seeming great friendship... Can a legend transform into reality?

The actor and film maker Cataldo De Palma directs the short film TRIANGLE, devised and produced by Top Players Production, founded in 2015 by Andy Barreca, Diego Violante and Cataldo De Palma himself.

For his second work, De Palma abandons the brilliant atmosphere of the comedy to engage in thriller. Neverthless, TRIANGLE is promised to be a “genetically modified” thriller as it is tanited by horror: there are gothic elements like a wood, a tower and a legend, but above all there’s the hideousness embodied in human relations, such as the pettiness and secretiveness that mine its foundation. The protagonists helplessly witness the implacable breakdown of their seemingly indestructible friendship under pressure of love, whose intensity apparently justifies everything up to the ultimate consequences.

Three little flies are trapped in a web of lies set up by a woman who seems to have emerged from the ashes of a distant past.
